#HopeForCristina the Documentary

Cristina di Corte is a 22-year-old woman of Italian ethnicity on a lifesaving quest to find a bone marrow donor. Cristina has MNGIE, a condition so rare only 70 people in the world have it. It's a race against time as the disease will progressively cause irreparable damage to her body. This means day by day, week by week and month by month her quality of life will diminish until the disease takes her life. This is why finding a match for her sooner instead of later is so important.

You can help by joining the cooperative international marrow donor registry and spreading the word asking others to join. People of Italian ethnicity are especially needed as marrow matches usually happen within the same ethnic group. There are exceptions to this rule though so we're asking everyone to please register to see if they are Cristina's match. Registering is pain free and with the new PBSC donation method, donating almost is.

To raise awareness her brother Anthony started a Twitter campaign and has successfully gotten #HopeForCristina to trend on Twitter.ca several times since Cristina's diagnosis. You can help by tweeting #HopeForCristina each Wednesday at 6:00 PM on the east coast and 3:00 PM on the west coast.
